There are many conditions contributing to reduced balance or falls that respond well to balance retraining. Physiotherapy can provide a comprehensive assessment to gain a full understanding of your balance deficits and provide a tailored exercise program which can be performed as part of a circuit class.

Many medical conditions can contribute to a feeling of imbalance so if you are experiencing imbalance or dizziness for the first time, it is best to seek a medical review from your GP to consider the cause.  Multiple body systems - including your muscles, bones, joints, vision, the balance organ in the inner ear, nerves, heart and blood vessels — must work normally for you to have normal balance. Your GP can review whether there are any medical issues contributing to your balance or dizziness problem.

Our balance circuit class provides a supervised environment with a focus on repetitive practice of tailored exercises to train the body systems that are contributing to your imbalance. Exercises are continuously progressed as your balance and function improves. Balance retraining can improve confidence and stability but this requires regular practice of balance exercises that challenge your balance system so you will also be provided with a home exercise program.

People with ongoing vestibular and balance disorders can attend the classes to maintain the improvements made after attending one-on-one sessions. These classes can provide benefit if attended regularly or as an 8 or 12 week block.

Balance Training Circuit Classes cater for 4 to 6 participants and are suitable for people with ongoing balance and vestibular issues.
